Captain Lawrence Oates

This portrait photograph of Captain Lawrence Oates was taken around 1911, during the beginning of the Terra Nova Expedition which was to claim the lives of all the men that went.

There is a plaque to commemorate Captain Oates in Meanwood Park in Leeds, where his family originated from.
