Egyption Shabti: The Shabti's Story

This audio story is inspired by actual historical events.  Drawing on what is known about Ancient Egypt, focussing particularly on the tomb of Pharaoh Seti 1st, as well as the work of modern-day museum curators, we have used our imagination to bring to life some of the people and events that affected the destiny of a real-life artefact – a shabti figurine.

This story is one of four (2 x audio, 2 x video), that follows the shabti’s journey from the craftsmen’s  workshops of Deir El Medina over three thousand years ago, to display at Leeds City Museum today.   A range of learning activities designed for schools accompany the four stories.
