Extract from 5th Earl of Harewood’s Diary 1922
The entry on Monday 17 reads:
'Saw Police-Inspector about theft of £50 note. It was Bertie. The note was changed at the public-house(?) in Little Church Street(?) and was back at the Bank of England within 2 days of my losing it. The inspector came at 7 PM. To think of my having hunted for that note for 2 months!'
