Ceramic Camel
This ceramic camel dates from the Tang dynasty, the 8th century CE. At that time, camels were an important means of transport. It is amazing to think that something so fragile as ceramic has survived for over a thousand years so we can still enjoy it today.
The camel was a gift to a past owner of Lotherton, to thank him for his role as a British Ambassador to Japan after WW2.
On display at Lotherton Hall
