Roman Skull with Grave Goods
This female skeleton buried with her jewellery was found at York, in 1901 but it dates back much further. By examining her teeth, bones and facial features we learn that she may have been of mixed North African ancestry. We can also tell that this woman was wealthy, with international tastes. Her body was buried with a collection unusual and expensive jewellery, including glass earrings from Germany, and bangles of elephant ivory which probably came from Africa
