Saltaire Congregational Church in Late 19thC
Saltaire Congregational Church (known today as Saltaire United Reformed Church) pictured in the late 19th Century. Titus Salt was a member of the Non-Conformist Congregational Church. This beautiful Church was built to resemble a classical temple, like those found in Ancient Rome. Work began in 1856 and the building was completed in 1859. The mausoleum built onto one side of the church is the final resting place of Sir Titus Salt, his wife Caroline and several of his children. Photo courtesy of Shipley College
