Working Loom with a Flying Shuttle

A working loom at Colne Valley Museum.  The treadle is used to move the warp up and down as the shuttle is passed through. The weaver in this photograph is using a flying shuttle, invented in 1733. Originally, the two looms would have each been positioned immediately next to the windows or ‘lights’.
