All living organisms are social creatures. Whether living alone, in family groups or existing as part of a superorganism, we all rely on, and are impacted by, interactions with other organisms and our environment.
Ecology is the study of these interactions and the scientists and researchers who study them are known as ecologists.
Predator and prey. Producers and consumers. Food webs, feedback loops and ecosystems. All these things contribute to our wider understanding of ecology, whether we’re investigating the nature outside our window or the ecological networks that stretch across our entire planet.
