Exhibitions are typically designed by curators, with graphic displays and object mounts being designed and created by other specialists . When a new exhibition is being created for a gallery a lot of thought has to go into the design.
Questions have to be answered such as:
- What will the theme be?
- How big will the display be and therefore what objects will fit in it?
- What images will be used to support the display?
- What colours will you use on the display?
As well as the things listed above the curator will have to think about different ways a visitor to their exhibition could learn about it and what methods they want to use.
In the video below, Natural Science curator, Rebecca, talks through some of the thought processes behind a recent exhibition.
